Aubrie comes to SOMA with several years of experience in the public school world. After teaching high school Spanish for several years, Aubrie moved into school counseling, where she worked extensively with grade remediation and various academic struggles, as well as trauma recovery and behaviors stemming from traumatic experiences. Aubrie is passionate about working with preteens to young adults, and has experience working with severe behavioral concerns, ODD, sexual abuse recovery, suicidal ideation, and a host of other concerns including anxiety, depression, and self-harm. Aubrie has extensive training in trauma-informed care and loves to help educate clients and families on the effects of trauma on the brain and body. Aubrie has an associate’s degree in biblical studies, and is passionate about biblical counseling and utilizing Christian faith and prayer in the recovery process. Aubrie also uses mindfulness practice to help with ruminating and anxiety, as well as motivational interviewing techniques to help teens and young adults make positive changes in their lives. Lastly, Aubrie is fluent in Spanish, conversational in French, and ESOL-licensed, so she loves working with refugee families and teens new to the area, helping them adapt to their new surroundings. Aubrie has experience working with families and children from every continent.
In her free time, you can find Aubrie hanging out with her husband and daughter, training for marathons, or reading an exorbitant amount of books.
