Ken is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 15 years of experience with adolescents, adults, and couples. Ken received his MS in Marriage and Family Therapy from Friends University after returning to school out of a deep desire to help people. His treatment approach is based on the belief that all behavior is understandable once you know the context. All of one’s past life experiences, both good and bad, influence and impact behavior in the present. Awareness creates opportunity for change.

When a client enters Ken’s office, he doesn’t see them as broken and in need of “fixing.” Hurting people don’t need to be fixed. They need a safe place to heal, which is what he tries to create in his office, a safe place for hurting and vulnerable people to find dignity and respect and someone to listen to them and value them. For those seeking support from a Christian perspective, he believes the most effective therapeutic treatments are those that mirror and reflect Biblical principles. He is comfortable supporting clients in discovering how their faith journey can and should support their emotional healing.

Ken’s therapeutic treatment is influenced by a number of different therapy models, including cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and schema therapy. He loves working with couples trying to improve their relationships and taught parenting classes for several years. He himself has been married for over 40 years, has 2 grown children, married and successful in their careers, and 5 grandchildren. Most recently, in response to the increase in anxiety he has observed he has been concentrating on trauma-related treatment strategies. His desire is for everyone who enters to find safety and acceptance in order to find healing.
