Let’s begin and navigate together.
“On the other side of a storm is the strength that comes from having navigated through it. Raise your sail and begin.”
~ Gregory S. Williams
For Lindy Merritt, one of the most beautiful and inspiring things in life is the human capacity for resilience. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Wichita State University and her Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Emporia State University. She is currently working toward clinical licensure (LCPC).
Lindy’s counseling style is eclectic and integrative, drawing from multiple theoretical approaches. Her favorites include Person-Centered Therapy, where clients are recognized as the experts on themselves; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which encourages embracing thoughts and feelings rather than suppressing them; and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which emphasizes the awareness of thinking patterns that can either prevent or promote growth and healing.
Her hope in working with clients is to promote coping skills, self-actualization, self-awareness, and self-regulation. Lindy seeks to provide a calming and peaceful space where clients feel supported, seen, and heard—without fear of judgment. She strives to walk alongside her clients, cheering them on and challenging them as they move forward in their journey. Having experienced her own struggles, she brings relatability and empathy into her work, believing that everyone deserves to share their story and be genuinely understood.
Lindy has experience supporting individuals and families in the child welfare and foster care systems, as well as working with marginalized groups in nonprofit settings. She currently sees individuals 18 and older and is particularly passionate about working with people facing challenges related to anxiety, life adjustments, non-substance addictions, social isolation, depression, aging, and marginalization, among others.
Outside of her work, Lindy enjoys spending time with her family and cocker spaniel, taking long car rides to new places, appreciating cloudy days, relaxing at the lake, trying new recipes, exploring national parks, and watching Harry Potter marathons.
