Melanie Keener is a Licensed Master Social Worker specializing in therapy for young children (ages 3-10) and young adults (ages 18-21). While pursuing her clinical license and Registered Play Therapist (RPT) certification, she is dedicated to providing compassionate, personalized care to help her clients achieve healing and growth.

When working with children, Melanie primarily uses a child-centered play therapy approach, grounded in an unconditional positive regard. She integrates perspectives from attachment theory, trauma, family dynamics, social-emotional and cognitive development, resilience, and self-esteem. Depending on your child’s needs, she may also incorporate directive modalities, sand tray therapy, cognitive behavioral techniques, and more. Her goal is to identify the most effective interventions to promote your child’s therapeutic healing and well-being.

For young adults, Melanie tailors her approach to meet your unique needs. While client-centered therapy is her foundation, she often draws on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), attachment-based theories, inner child work, trauma-informed care, strength-based strategies, and sand tray techniques. Together, Melanie and her clients will explore the tools and approaches that best support your journey.
