Melanie King she is a Licensed Master Social worker. Melanie completed undergraduate school with a Bachelors of Social Work at Kansas State University and went on to pursue her master’s education at Wichita State University. The last few years have been dedicated to working with children in schools and in child welfare. Her specialization today lies in Play therapy, particularly with children aged 3-12 years old. In her play therapy practice, she employs a child-centered approach with various lenses of trauma-informed care, CBT, family dynamics, attachment theories, social-emotional theories, resilience theories, sand tray, and more.

Working with children in the playroom entails giving them full autonomy to engage in the play that resonates with them, allowing them to communicate any needs or matters in their lives that they wish to address. Melanie explores emotional intelligence and regulation with all children and their parents. Her goal as a child’s therapist is to address any unmet needs or challenges the child may be facing but is unable to communicate verbally to their parent(s). She strives to promote resilience and self-esteem in all her clients. Her overarching objective when working with her clients is to encourage and support children in becoming the healthiest versions of themselves.
