How to Be There for Your Loved Ones

Loved ones walking through a field

We have to connect with our loved ones on an emotional level before they will ever be able to take in new information or find answers within themselves. I have learned by science and my own stubbornness that people are the best experts on themselves –not me. However, creating a space for another person to be heard and to feel connected is what is truly healing.

When you’ve created a space for their own wonderful wisdom to flourish, or to share how something might be healing for you, healing happens for your loved one.

We must take off the earmuffs by listening, not by preaching advice. Our job isn’t “fixing” the problem, but having the capacity to sit with the other person in their discomfort — to share in that experience of vulnerability. That is healing. That is love.
